Not On Point

Yesterday I met up with one of my friends and I noticed he had a Washington Redskins t-shirt on. I would have definitely taken a picture of his shirt and posted it on here but I thought it was a little inappropriate for this blog site. The reason why is because the front of the shirt said Washington Redskins but the back of the shirt said F*#K Dallas Cowboys. This just shows how blown the Skins' fans are about last weeks game with the Cowboys. I was kind of psyched on his shirt though. On another note, Washington Redskins versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was another let down. Campbell was throwing some bad passes. He threw two good passes in a row but both of them slipped right through the hands of butterfingers. Seems like the Skins need to be more on point. Jason Campbell just wasn't as sharp in this game. During the second half, I got a little nervous when he got tackled, but he ended up being fine. We really can't afford to have another injured player. Campbell came back with a touchdown pass to Cooley which was a big breath of fresh air. The Skins were really coming back during the second half, they ran the field. But I can't believe Campbell got sacked! But what boosted me was when Washington returned it and sacked the stuffing out of the Buccaneers' qb. The interception that Campbell threw really threw me off. It was all downhill from there.

Q & A with the Cowboy

By Thong Dang

Coming to realize that our blog didn’t really have any specific posts about Dallas fans in DC, I decided to set off on my own to find and question one of these fans. Luckily, however, I did not have to search far at all, as my roomate, the person I had been living with for several months (who also wishes to remain anonymous), “Romo, was a hardcore Cowboys fan.

Romo was a sweet and puzzling kid I had known back in Alexandria, VA where I grew up. I first met him down at the local playground one Saturday afternoon. All the neighborhood kids were playing a little tag football and Romo gave me a high five after I caught his TD pass. Since then we have been friends.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The mini-interview…
Thong: Hello. I’m going to ask you a bunch of questions and I want to have them answered immediately.
Romo: F*** you.
Thong: I don’t like you using foul language; I’m not a Cowboy’s fan like you.
Romo: Cool
Thong: So how long have you been living in the DC area?
Romo: My whole life actually. I was born in Fairfax, VA, May 05, 1989.
Thong: And do you consider yourself to be a hardcore Dallas Cowboys fan?
Romo: Not hardcore but they’re the only team that I really like. I’ve liked them since I was a little kid. I guess it came from my dad who is also a Cowboys fan. He’s from New York though.
Thong: How do you feel about being a Cowboys fan in the rival team’s city?
Romo: Amazing. I believe they are better and it’s fun to make fun of the Skins when they lose [laughs].
Thong: Do you think you’re going to the Superbowl?
Romo: I’d like to think one game at a time. Our record looks pretty strong right now at 9-1 but we’ll see.
Thong: What did you think of last Sunday’s game?
Romo: Hilarious, because last year after TO had his surgery the Redskins made fun of him because he couldn’t catch anything. And yesterday he single-handedly sh*t on them by making all 4 touchdown catches [laughs]. This time he owned them. How ‘bout them Cowboys?
Thong: But you have to admit it was a fairly close matchup.
Romo: Yes, or some reason whenever the Cowboys play the Redskins they have to stoop down to their level. But in the end you just have to look at the scoreboard.
Thong: any predictions for the December 30 game in Washington?
Romo: No score predictions but I hope that at that point it doesn’t really matter who wins for either team if you get what I mean [wink, wink].
Thong: Yes it probably won’t, but it will be for bragging rights.
Romo: Okay, but this time Dallas isn’t splitting wins with them.
Thong: You mean like how we swept you guys a few seasons ago? [laughs]
Romo: keep laughing until December 30.
Thong: I'll still be laughing long after that.
Close but no cigar
Sunday night's game was the most anticipated game. The Dallas Cowboys vs. the Washington Redskins. This game was definitely entertaining but hard to watch. Everyone was expecting the Skins to lose so I thought in the back of my mind the Skins were gonna prove everyone wrong. Well that didn't happen, but the Skins' performance was good. I watched the game at my friends house and I noticed that everyone around me was a Skins fan except for my one friend who sat next to me wearing a Cowboys jersey. Of course I gave him a hard time about it but he seemed to be rooting for the Skins when they would have a good play. It made me wonder if he was a secret Redskin's fan but trying to act like a Cowboys fan. Anyways, although the Skins played well, some of their decisions were strange. The one play where the Skins could have just gone one more yard but instead they decided to kick it 50 yards. That was a very strange choice. I don't think the old coach would have done something like that. I feel that the Skins shouldn't play so safe and they should take more chances. I can't be mad about the turnout of the game because the Skins did play good throughout the game. I will be mad if we lose next weeks game though. We need this next win.
:(
Though we lost, i think that was the best game of the season.  It was very entertaining throughout.  We played well on both halfs i believe.  However, the biggest factor like JOnny said was the absence of my favorite player, #21 Sean Taylor.  We gave up 5 huge plays.  Many of them coming on 3rd and long plays.  One thing that i realized in this game was how much i really dislike Dallas.  I cant stand their quarterback Romo and especially T.O.  Im not making an excuse for the game, but i just cant wait for the next time we play, and have Sean back to get one back.  But there we have it...the anticipated game that we all were waiting for...and eventhough it surly didn't turn out the way that i hoped it would, im still very much pleased with the SKINS! we'll get them next time!!!!
Sean Taylor
For the second straight week we had tremendous play calling on the offensive side of the ball.  I mean Campbell was on fire.  Santana was back, President POrtis was solid, Randle El was his usual self, Cooley was cool and calm as usual, and Keenan McCardell even got in on the action.  Special teams played great especially Rock Cartwright on the returns.
On the other side of the ball we played well.  Marcus Washington came back and was a spark for us.  HOWEVER, THE MAIN POINT OF THIS POST IS TO TALK ABOUT THE SIGNIFICANCE OF SEAN TAYLOR. We looked lost on all of T.O. plays because he was not there.  We would have never been in the situation that we were in at the end if he had been in the game without question.  Honestly i believe that we would have won last weeks game as well if he didnt get hurt.  This game really kills me.  Our Skinz are better than our record shows.  GAAAAAAAAHHHHH
Sweet But More Sour
I think today's game was the best that the Skinz offense has played all season.  Jason Campbell absolutely broke out today, and our receivers finally made an impact.  More importantly, Coach Gibbs and Al Saunders opened up the play book, and let Campbell do his thing.  However, it was not enough.  Our defense played well not really giving up anything ,except for the 4 TOUCHDOWNS to T.O.  We really found out how important Sean Taylor is to our football team. On 3 of those touchdowns our secondary looked confused.  Also #37, who was replacing Taylor, had a 51 yard pass interference call on him.  He definetly was not Sean Taylor, but can you blame the guy for being signed just this week.  In the end we lost another game that was in our hands.  However, this was the most promising one.  Hopefully the SKinz dont get too upbeat on this one, because it still is a lose.  If we can keep this up and get a little healthier i am excited about the upcoming 6 games.
Good Feelin
Despite last week's heartbreaker.  Despite all the injuries on both sides of the ball. I got a good feelin bout today's game.  For some reason i think we are gona win.  Just got these instincts.  Even put $20 Bones on the game.  Lets go SKINZ
Wake up!
Today I was driving on the highway and I see two cars with Dallas Cowboy banners attached to their antennas. Now what I don't understand is, what are their motives to do this? Why would anybody rep the Cowboys when they live in D.C.? That's like putting vegetarian food in the meat section of the grocery store. I tried taking a picture of the Dallas cowboys banner just to show you these crazed fans but my cell phone couldn't get a good shot. But trust me, these cowboy fans were representing hard. Anyways, lets talk about the game the Redskins played. So I'm watching the game thinking the skins are on point tonight, but then they loose. Where did we go wrong? Well the offense was playing well but it seemed like the defense was slacking. The entire chemistry of the team just wasn't there tonight. It seems like the Skins are having a hard time playing together as a whole. I hope they can wake up and really start getting their game plan together. We need to win this next game!
Another Let Down
I was watching the 1st half of the Skinz game with Jonny, and though the Redskins were not dominating, they were still in control of the game.  I went off to work after that, and was shocked to hear that we not only lost the game but lost by more than ten.  I dont understand how that could have happened, because our offense looked a lot better than in previous weeks, and our defense has been mostly dependable.  Jonny told me that everything for us collapsed in the 4th and most important quarter.  I am really starting to question the coaching on our team. However, what people are not realizing.  I think the collapse had a lot to do with my favorite player, Sean Taylor #21, getting hurt.  I watched the highlights after work and saw that the Eagles made a lot of plays and even scored in the 2nd half by throwing to the side where he usually plays.  I think without him there affected our defense a lot.  We really need to regroup for the Dallas game next week.
Ease My Pain Pt. 2
Another thing is we have lost so many close games this year.  To be labeled a great or even good team or player in any type of sport you have to be able to pull out the close games.  Todays game should not even have been close, but of course the SKinz always let the teams they are supposed to beat win.  I understand that Giants game, and maybe even Green Bay.  But if it keeps reoccuring then it is unacceptable.  We are midway through the season and we are still making the same mental mistakes that we were in Week 2.  We could have been 7-2 easily by now.  Absolutely unacceptable, especially from Coach Gibbs standards and expectations.  ANd we have an upcoming 2 away games, starting next week at Dallas.  We really needed today's win to set the momentum for next week.  Honestly i dont know what to expect.
Someone Ease the Pain the Skinz keep putitn me through.
